Astron hosts community sessions on mine plans
Donald Mineral Sands will host community walk-in information sessions to update the community on its rare earth and mineral sands project.
The sessions are planned for Donald Soldiers Memorial Hall in McCulloch Street on Thursday October 10 from 3pm-6pm, at Minyip Senior Citizens in Main Street on Friday October 11 from 10am-1pm and 3pm-6pm, and at Rupanyup Community Centre in Gibson Street on Saturday October 12 from 10am-1pm.
CEO Tiger Brown said the sessions would allow community members to learn more about the project’s potential benefits and impact, ask questions and offer feedback.
Mr Brown said people attending could also expect accurate and up-to-date information, detailed project displays, one-on-one discussions with project experts, insights on project benefits including economic boost for the region and information on the company's commitment to environmental management.
"We're committed to open dialogue with the Wimmera community," Mr Brown said. "We value community input as we develop this significant project, which promises many benefits for the region."
The mine area, about 15km north-east of Minyip, has one of the world's largest known zircon and titanium resources and contains significant quantities of rare earth elements used in everyday industries and products.
The project aims to create more than 500 jobs, stimulate economic growth and contribute to the national and global supply of critical minerals.
Donald Mineral Sands is a subsidiary of Astron Corporation Limited.
