Drung South win first match of the season

The Drung South Tennis Club has secured their first win of the season, defeating St Michaels by two sets at Drung South on Saturday.

Drung South finally entered the match with nearly a full-strength team, and after the first set of doubles, the score was tied 2-2.

Drung South's wins came through Kate-Lyn Perkin and Yolly Molineaux defeating Violet McGennisken 8-0 and Kassie Peachey and B Kemp/C Tippet defeating Asha McGennisken and Barb Crough 8-2.

St Michaels wins came through Nick Schultz and Nick Robertson, who defeated Aaron Jennings and Dale Schmid 8-0, and Chris Ellis and Joel Rees, who defeated their opponents.

Drung South then took a three-set lead after the singles matches. Harrison Daniell defeated Joel Rees 8-2, Kate-Lyn Perkin defeated Violet McGennisken 8-1, and Hayley Reid defeated Asha McGennisken 8-0. St Michaels win came through Steve Schultz, who defeated Aaron Jennings 8-0.

In the last set of doubles, Drung South's wins came through Kate-Lyn Perkin and Cara Tippett defeating Violet McGennisken and Barb Crough 8-3, Harrison Daniell and Dale Schmid defeating Joel Rees and Nick Robertson 8-3, and Hayley Reid and Yolly Molineaux defeating Asha McGennisken and Kassie Peachey 8-7.

St Michaels wins came through Chris Ellis and Steve Schultz, who won their set 8-0, Kassie Peachey and Barb Crough, who defeated Yolly Molineaux and Cara Tippett 8-5, and Chris Ellis and Nick Robertson, who won their set 8-6.

In the other match between Horsham Lawn and Central Park, played at Horsham Lawn, Central Park won 9-5.

Central Park took a 3-1 lead after the first doubles section. Willow Sainsbury and Tara McIntyre defeated Tahlia Thompson and Ella Thompson 8-5, Reece Harman and Shaun Alexander defeated Sam Hoffmann and Andrew Dorman 8-6, and Sharon Clough and Frazer Shurdington defeated Chloe Reinheimer and Gemma Walker 8-4.

Horsham Lawn's win came through Lachlan Punchard and Graeme Wood, who defeated Matt Jones and Harry Allan 8-1.

After the singles matches, Central Park extended their lead to 6-2. Matt Jones defeated Lachlan Punchard 8-7, Willow Sainsbury defeated Tahlia Thompson 8-5, and Frazer Shurdington defeated Gemma Walker 8-1.

Sam Hoffmann defeated Reece Harman to keep Horsham Lawn within reach.

Horsham Lawn clawed their way back in the following two doubles sets, with Graeme Wood and Andrew Dorman defeating Harry Allan and Shaun Alexander 8-1 and Ella Thompson and Chloe Reinheimer defeating Tara McIntyre and Sharon Clough 8-7.

At 6-4, the match was there to be won, but Central Park won three of the following four sets. Frazer Shurdington and Tara McIntyre defeated Gemma Walker and Ella Thompson 8-5, Willow Sainsbury and Sharon Clough defeated Tahlia Thompson and Chloe Reinheimer 8-2, and Shaun Alexander and Matt Jones defeated Lachlan Punchard and Andrew Forman 8-4.

Horsham Lawns' win came through Sam Hoffmann and Graeme Wood, who defeated Reece Harman and Harry Allan 8-4.
