Heavy vehicle operators will have the opportunity to learn from industry experts on road safety at the Nhill Trailer Exchange on November 26 and 27.

Organised by Horsham Rural City Council in partnership with various agencies, the event will cover essential topics such as vehicle safety, roadworthiness, fatigue management, and speed regulation.

With practical displays, presentations, and insights from Victoria Police and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, the focus will be on education rather than enforcement.

Interim chief executive Craig Niemann said the event's aim was to give the heavy vehicle industry a chance to find out the latest tips to improve road safety

"The Western Highway is one of the nation's key interstate freight routes, and unfortunately it is over-represented in fatalities and serious injuries, so we are keen to do everything we can to help reduce the occurrence of these incidents," he said.

Supported by Community Road Safety Grants, the event is open from 4-11pm both days.
