Yarrilinks was formed in the late 90’s, and based around annual community tree planting weekends.

Many hundreds of hectares of trees and shrubs have been planted over those years to create wildlife corridors and rehabilitate cleared land across the region.

The new strategic plan outlines that history, the current operating context, and some key objectives to support Landcare in the region into the future.

It also includes an action plan to guide the group’s activities over the next five years.

The day will start with a walk along the Yarriambiack Creek to collect rubbish for Clean Up Australia Day (meet at the Creekside Hotel carpark at 10 am).

Participants will then gather at the hotel for presentation of the plan and a lunch.

Yarrilinks Landcare co-ordinator Alicia Merriam with Landcare Network said, “If you help out on the cleanup and sign up for a (free) Yarrilinks membership, Yarrilinks will even subsidise your lunch order!”

The event will finish off with a fun quiz game on the history and ecology of the region.

There will be participation options for a range of activity levels.

Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, sun protection, and bring gloves and a water bottle.
